Bicep Unveils New Album SLUG with Three Fresh Tracks and a Short Film
The UK electronic duo explores themes of perception and niche worlds in their latest album, accompanied by a cinematic short film.

Bicep's return with three tracks last month—'Air,' 'Lemonder,' and 'Viper'—set the stage for their upcoming album, SLUG. Today, they announced the full project, which follows their acclaimed CHROMA series. Along with the announcement, they shared three new songs: 'Gas,' 'Ultra,' and 'Equarium.' Each track features collaborations with artists like Lauren Duffus, SOARR, Eartheater, Saskia, and Kehina, emphasizing the album's layered approach.
The title SLUG draws inspiration from land and sea slugs, symbolizing the idea that appearances can be deceiving and there's more beneath the surface. Bicep describes the album as an exploration of worlds hidden from ordinary view, tying into the immersive nature of their music and the accompanying visuals. The band sought to expand their artistic scope by developing a three-part short film directed by Alex Takács, which complements the album’s themes.

The short film delves into contrasting worlds—racing pigeons, niche subcultures like demolition derbies and pigeon breeding—highlighting their beauty, chaos, and darkness. Takács explains that the film was inspired by the obsession surrounding a stolen racing pigeon, illustrating a duality that resonates with the album's layered sound. Bicep wanted to extend their creative expression beyond music, using visual storytelling to mirror the complexity and hidden depths of SLUG.
The cinematic project isn't just an aesthetic add-on; it’s a reflection of the album's core idea—examining worlds that exist outside mainstream consciousness. These niche interests, from pigeon fanciers to underground parties, serve as metaphors for the album’s exploration of perception and the unseen. The visuals aim to deepen the listener's experience, blurring lines between chaos and beauty—an approach that aligns with Bicep’s ongoing interest in atmospheric, textured electronic music.
