Ibex Clone, the Memphis post-punk band that made waves with their 2023 album All Channels Clear, is back with a new record titled Gravity, set for release on November 13 via Goner Records. The band’s latest effort was recorded in an unconventional backyard space, with producer Andrew McCalla helping to craft their signature lo-fi yet hypnotic sound. The announcement arrives just as the band shares the album’s lead single, which hints at a dreamy, jangly vibe that fans will find familiar but refreshed.

The title track, released today as the first preview of Gravity, is a gently hypnotic tune that feels like slipping into a daydream. Its shimmering guitars and laid-back rhythm evoke a sense of introspective wonder, fitting well with the band’s knack for blending hooks with a hazy, nostalgic atmosphere. On Bandcamp, the song is accompanied by a live performance video, giving fans a raw glimpse into the band’s energy and sound in a more spontaneous setting.

For those eager to pre-order or learn more about the record, Gravity will be available through Goner Records, with pre-orders live now. The album’s track list features nine songs, including titles like “Imaginary Water,” “Wishing Well,” and “Memory Palaces,” each promising to explore themes of memory, longing, and introspection. The record’s mix of jangly guitars and reflective lyrics continues Ibex Clone’s tradition of crafting music that feels both intimate and expansive.

The band’s approach to recording — in an unpolished, backyard space — lends the album an authentic DIY charm that has become a hallmark of their sound. Producer Andrew McCalla’s involvement seems to have added a subtle layer of polish without sacrificing their raw edge. Fans of their previous work will find the new material familiar yet evolving, with the title track exemplifying their ability to blend catchy melodies with a sense of moody introspection.

You can listen to the new single, “Gravity,” below via the YouTube link, which captures the band’s live energy and the song’s layered, jangly textures. Ibex Clone continues to carve out their niche in the post-punk scene with a sound rooted in simplicity and emotional depth, promising an album that will resonate with those who appreciate music that’s both thoughtfully crafted and emotionally direct.
