Wendy Eisenberg and Mari Rubio – better known as more eaze – have long circled New York’s avant-garde scene, but their new project Whait aims to carve out a distinct space. After releasing a 2026 EP and collaborating across genres, the duo announced their debut LP, 'sympathy at home,' set for release on February 12, 2027, via Night School Records. The album promises a blend of acoustic guitar, processed violin, and fragmented electronic pop, emphasizing spontaneity and shared intuition in its creation.

Recorded mainly in their NYC home studios during brief tour breaks, the album reflects a visceral, improvisational process. Lead single 'Falling Down' exemplifies this approach with its fragile, folk-inflected melody intertwined with glitchy textures. Eisenberg’s guitar work complements Rubio’s experimental violin processing, creating a lush, layered sound that’s both familiar and unpredictable. The song offers a taste of the album’s core: a dialogue between acoustic warmth and avant-garde experimentation.

The album’s tracklist features seven songs, ranging from the introspective 'Human Music' to the electronically fractured 'Cache Issue.' Each piece explores themes of change, connection, and mutability, echoing the duo’s desire to embrace improvisation and instinct over polished production. Their process—recording in domestic spaces during sparse touring periods—fosters a sense of intimacy and immediacy, capturing the duo’s dynamic as they navigate genres from indie folk to experimental electronics.

Both Eisenberg and Rubio have been prolific this year, with Eisenberg releasing a self-titled album praised for its hopeful, unrestrained songwriting, while Rubio has put out solo albums and collaborated widely in the experimental scene. Their upcoming LP as Whait represents a maturation of their ongoing dialogue, pushing boundaries while rooted in personal expression. The duo will support the record with a performance opening for Animal Collective’s anniversary show at New York's Knockdown Center, continuing their streak of blending improvisation with indie experimentation.
